Can Orthodox Judaism embrace the untraditional? In this text-based study, we'll follow how turkey - an untraditional, New World bird - slowly gained acceptance into a tradition-oriented Kosher system. More broadly, we'll note the different strategies that are available to Orthodox rabbis in permitting new Jewish practices, with a particular focus on the rise of female Orthodox clergy.
